Job Title: Kitchen Staff / Kitchen Assistant

Location: Maitama, Abuja (FCT)

Job Summary

  • The Kitchen Staff / Kitchen Assistant will support the daily kitchen and food service operations at Hilwa Heights Luxury Apartments & Villas by ensuring cleanliness, food preparation support, kitchen organisation, and adherence to food hygiene standards.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the chef, operations team, and other kitchen personnel to ensure smooth kitchen operations and quality hospitality service delivery to guests.
  • The role requires maintaining a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen environment while assisting with food preparation and operational support.
  • This position requires a disciplined, energetic, and hygiene-conscious individual capable of working efficiently within a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Operations:

  • Assist chefs and kitchen staff with food preparation and ingredient handling.
  • Wash, peel, chop, and prepare food ingredients in accordance with instructions and menu requirements.
  • Support meal preparation, plating, and food service activities to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Provide timely assistance during peak service periods to ensure efficiency and prompt service delivery.
  • Follow instructions from kitchen supervisors to maintain consistency in food preparation and presentation.

Kitchen Hygiene and Sanitation:

  • Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen surfaces, utensils, cooking equipment, and preparation areas.
  • Ensure proper storage, labelling, and organisation of food items, ingredients, and kitchen supplies.
  • Adhere strictly to food safety standards, hygiene protocols, and health regulations at all times.
  • Dispose of waste materials appropriately and ensure regular cleaning of waste disposal areas.
  • Support continuous sanitation practices to maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.

Inventory and Operational Support:

  • Monitor kitchen inventory levels and promptly report shortages or low stock items.
  • Assist in receiving, organising, and storing kitchen supplies and food items properly.
  • Support stock rotation practices (FIFO) to ensure freshness and reduce wastage.
  • Assist in coordinating kitchen operations during guest events, special requests, and high-demand periods.
  • Ensure kitchen work areas remain organised, functional, and ready for continuous operations.

Performance Expectations

  • Maintenance of high kitchen hygiene standards.
  • Timely support during food preparation and service.
  • Proper handling of kitchen equipment and supplies.
  • Efficient teamwork and operational support.

Qualifications and Experience

  • SSCE / OND qualification minimum.
  • Previous kitchen or hospitality experience is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices preferred.
