Job Title: Chinese Translator

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Overview

• A Chinese Translator is responsible for converting written or spoken content between Chinese and another language (commonly English) while maintaining the original meaning, tone, and context.
• They support communication in business, legal, technical, educational, and customer service environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate documents, emails, reports, contracts, and presentations between Chinese and English
• Interpret spoken conversations during meetings, calls, or events when required
• Ensure translations are accurate, culturally appropriate, and grammatically correct
• Proofread and edit translated materials for clarity and consistency
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Research industry-specific terminology to improve translation quality
• Collaborate with departments such as sales, marketing, customer service, or legal teams
• Meet deadlines for translation projects and assignments.

Requirements

• Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) and English
• Bachelor’s degree in Languages, Translation, Linguistics, or related field (preferred)
• Proven experience as a translator or interpreter
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of business, legal, technical, or medical terminology
• Experience using translation software such as SDL Trados Studio or MemoQ
• Cultural awareness and cross-cultural communication skills
• Time management and organizational abilities.

Salary
N400,000 - N600,000 per month.
