We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Driver

Location: Ilupeju, Lagos

Job Summary

  • The Engineering Department Driver is responsible for the safe transport of engineering personnel, specialized tools, and technical equipment to various project sites.
  • This role requires a high degree of reliability, the ability to navigate difficult terrains, and a basic understanding of handling sensitive technical materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport engineers and technical teams to construction sites, factories, or remote field locations.
  • Navigate off-road terrains or complex industrial environments safely.
  • Remain on-site during inspections or repairs to provide logistical support or emergency mobility.
  • Ensure the safe loading, securing, and unloading of engineering tools (e.g., surveying equipment, heavy-duty toolboxes, or delicate electronic sensors).
  • Monitor vehicle weight limits when transporting heavy spare parts or machinery.
  • Assist the team in tracking movement of equipment between the central warehouse and site locations.
  • Conduct daily checks to ensure the vehicle is "field-ready," including checking 4WD functionality (if applicable), spare tires, and emergency recovery kits.
  • Maintain an organized cabin and cargo area to prevent damage to expensive engineering assets during transit.
  • Keep detailed logs of trips, specifically attributing mileage to particular projects for cost-accounting purposes.
  • Strictly adhere to both road traffic laws and Site Safety Protocols (e.g., wearing PPE when entering project zones).
  • Manage vehicle permits required for restricted industrial areas or government project sites.
    • Proficiency in driving manual and automatic vehicles (4x4 experience often preferred).
    • Ability to read site maps or GPS coordinates in areas with poor road markings.
    • Basic mechanical skills to perform minor field repairs if a vehicle breaks down in a remote area.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to assist in lifting and moving engineering equipment (up to 25kg).
  • Soft Skills: High level of patience for long hours on-site and strong communication for coordinating with site supervisors.
  • Equipment Integrity: Zero incidents of damage to tools or equipment during transit.
  • Site Arrival: Consistently meeting "Toolbox Talk" start times at project sites.
  • Project Documentation: Accuracy in assigning vehicle fuel and mileage costs to the correct project codes.
  • Compliance: Full adherence to site-specific safety regulations and PPE requirements.
