Job Overview
- We are seeking a highly disciplined, objective, and detail-oriented Audit Officer to join our operations team within the oil and gas retail sector.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting operational, financial, and compliance audits across fuel stations and business units to ensure adherence to company policies, financial accuracy, inventory accountability, operational efficiency, and fraud prevention measures.
- The Audit Officer will play a critical role in strengthening internal controls, identifying operational gaps, minimizing leakages, and promoting accountability across stations. The role requires a proactive individual with strong analytical abilities, integrity, and the willingness to travel frequently to stations for inspection, verification, and audit exercises.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and surprise audits across fuel stations and operational units.
- Verify daily sales records, cash remittances, expenses, and operational reports.
- Audit fuel stock movements, tank balances, dispensing activities, and product reconciliations.
- Monitor compliance with company operational procedures, financial controls, and regulatory standards.
- Investigate discrepancies, shortages, suspicious transactions, and operational irregularities.
- Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, risk observations, and corrective recommendations.
- Review station documentation including invoices, receipts, waybills, stock records, and payment records.
- Evaluate internal control systems and recommend improvements where necessary.
- Conduct compliance checks on cash handling procedures and POS transactions.
- Assess operational efficiency and identify areas of wastage, revenue leakage, or financial exposure.
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of station operational and financial data.
- Support management in fraud detection, prevention, and risk mitigation initiatives.
- Carry out physical verification of assets, inventory, fuel stock, and operational equipment.
- Follow up on audit observations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain confidentiality, objectivity, and professional ethics in all audit activities.
- Utilize audit tools, spreadsheets, and reporting systems effectively.
- Be available to commute, travel, and visit assigned stations regularly for audit and inspection purposes.
- Carry out any other audit, compliance, or investigation-related duties assigned by management.

Job Specification / Requirements
- Locational Requirement: Must reside in Imo State and ready to work within Ogbaku and it's environ.
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Audit, Business Administration, or related discipline.
Experience;
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in audit, internal control, accounting, or compliance.
- Experience in the oil and gas, retail, or fuel station sector is highly preferred.
