We have vast experience with plant/equipment installation of numerous sizes and complexity and we pride ourself in the vast capacity built over the years in providing design, procurement and installation supports to numerous FMCG firms such as Coca Cola, Nigeria Breweries, Guinness, Friesland, PZ Wilmar, Murzah Wilmar (Tanzania), Kasapreko (Ghana), etc. and supports for OEMS such Sidel, KHS, Krones, Pentair etc.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Design and Commercial Engineer (Civil)
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
Technical Design and Engineering:
- Develop detailed civil and structural engineering designs, drawings, and layouts for EPC and construction projects.
- Prepare and review structural calculations, material specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Utilize civil engineering and design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD Pro, Tekla Structures, ProtaStructure, and other relevant applications for design development and analysis.
- Perform structural analysis, load calculations, and design optimization to ensure safety, stability, and cost efficiency of structures.
- Support value engineering initiatives to improve constructability, project efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
Commercial and Cost Management:
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs), material take-offs, cost estimates, and project budgets for civil and structural works.
- Participate in tender preparation, technical/commercial proposals, and project pricing activities.
- Conduct cost analysis and support commercial evaluations for project execution and procurement activities.
- Assist in variation management, project costing, and commercial documentation.
Procurement Support:
- Collaborate with procurement and project teams in preparing technical specifications for materials and subcontract packages.
- Review vendor and subcontractor quotations for technical compliance and commercial suitability.
- Support material selection and supplier evaluation for civil and structural components.
Project Execution Support:
- Provide technical support and clarification to site teams during project execution.
- Coordinate with construction teams to ensure proper implementation of approved designs and specifications.
- Monitor and manage design revisions, site changes, and as-built documentation.
- Support site inspections, technical reviews, and project progress reporting activities.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential design, construction, and commercial risks associated with projects.
- Develop mitigation measures and support implementation of corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.
Interdisciplinary Coordination:
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, process, and project teams to ensure proper integration of civil and structural designs.
- Work closely with project managers, estimators, planners, and commercial teams throughout project lifecycle.
- Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and client coordination sessions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree / HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 – 4 years’ experience in civil/structural engineering design and commercial support within an EPC or construction environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reasoning skills.
- Proficiency in civil and structural engineering software including:
- AutoCAD
- Civil 3D
- STAAD Pro
- Tekla Structures
- ProtaStructure
- Revit (added advantage)
- Good understanding of structural analysis, steel structures, reinforced concrete design, and construction methodologies.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction standards.
- Good communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
- Knowledge of Nigerian engineering standards, building codes, and HSE requirements is an added advantage.
Salary
N200,000 - N250,000 / Month.
