Job Title: Legal Officer

Location: Lagos 
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

  • We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Officer to join our Legal/Compliance team. The successful candidate will provide legal and regulatory support across the business, assist in managing legal risk, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on corporate transactions, regulatory compliance, contract management, and governance matters in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day legal support and advisory services across business operations and corporate transactions
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documentation
  • Support dispute resolution, litigation, and arbitration processes
  • Conduct legal and compliance due diligence on vendors, partners, and projects
  • Monitor and interpret relevant laws, regulations, and regulatory updates
  • Assist in corporate governance activities, including preparation for Board and statutory meetings
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and strategic corporate projects
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, HSE standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate legal records, databases, and statutory documentation
  • Support stakeholder engagement with regulators, government agencies, and external partners
  • Assist in compliance training, onboarding, and internal awareness programs

Requirements

  • LL.B Degree from a recognized university
  • BL (Call to Bar in Nigeria is mandatory)
  • Minimum of 3 years post-call relevant experience in legal, compliance, or corporate secretarial practice
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Good understanding of corporate and commercial law
  • Experience in a corporate or regulated environment is an advantage
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
