Job Title: Legal Officer

About the Role
- We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Officer to join our Legal/Compliance team. The successful candidate will provide legal and regulatory support across the business, assist in managing legal risk, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on corporate transactions, regulatory compliance, contract management, and governance matters in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day legal support and advisory services across business operations and corporate transactions
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documentation
- Support dispute resolution, litigation, and arbitration processes
- Conduct legal and compliance due diligence on vendors, partners, and projects
- Monitor and interpret relevant laws, regulations, and regulatory updates
- Assist in corporate governance activities, including preparation for Board and statutory meetings
- Support mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and strategic corporate projects
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, HSE standards, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate legal records, databases, and statutory documentation
- Support stakeholder engagement with regulators, government agencies, and external partners
- Assist in compliance training, onboarding, and internal awareness programs
Requirements
- LL.B Degree from a recognized university
- BL (Call to Bar in Nigeria is mandatory)
- Minimum of 3 years post-call relevant experience in legal, compliance, or corporate secretarial practice
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
- Good understanding of corporate and commercial law
- Experience in a corporate or regulated environment is an advantage
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
