St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is a 64-bed hospital located in Ogungbade off New Ife road in Ibadan. St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is the vision of the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena (Italy). We offer various medical services such as: General medicine, internal medicine, O & G, Laboratory, and Radiology, to mention just a few. The hospital is run in collaboration with foreign partners. We are registered and licensed by the Corporate Affairs Commission and the Ministry of Health. Also, we are accredited by the NHIS as both primary and secondary health care provider.

Job Title: ICU Nurse

Location: Ibadan, Oyo

Job Description

  • St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is seeking a highly skilled, compassionate, and dedicated ICU Nurse to join our critical care team.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care to critically ill patients, monitoring patient conditions closely, and supporting life-saving interventions within the Intensive Care Unit.
  • The ideal candidate must possess strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism and compassionate patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess critically ill patients continuously.
  • Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
  • Operate and monitor ICU equipment such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and oxygen therapy devices.
  • Observe and record patients’ vital signs and report changes promptly to physicians.
  • Assist doctors during emergency procedures and critical interventions.
  • Provide emergency nursing care and respond promptly to life-threatening situations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation and patient records.
  • Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.
  • Educate and support patients’ relatives regarding patient conditions and care plans.
  • Collaborate effectively with doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical nursing standards at all times.

Education & Professional Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) qualification
  • Registered Midwife (RM) qualification is an added advantage
  • Valid Nursing and Midwifery Council practicing license
  • ICU/critical care certification

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 – 5 years experience in ICU or critical care nursing (preferred)
  • Experience with ventilator management and emergency response is an advantage

  • Knowledge of ICU equipment and emergency procedures
  • Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making ability
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Remuneration

  • Competitive salary: N150,000 - N250,000 monthly.
