We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Paravet

Location: Nigeria

Job Summary

  • We are looking for passionate and field-oriented Paravets to support veterinary and extension activities across assigned pastoralist communities.
  • The successful candidates will serve as the first point of contact for farmers on animal health and husbandry issues while supporting disease control, vaccination, treatment, and farmer education under the supervision of Veterinary Doctors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level animal health services including vaccination, deworming, and basic treatment.
  • Assist Veterinary Doctors in disease surveillance, diagnosis, and sample collection.
  • Train and sensitise farmers on animal health, hygiene, and good husbandry practices.
  • Monitor herd / flock health and promptly report unusual signs, disease outbreaks, or mortality.
  • Maintain accurate records of treatments, field activities, and farmer interactions.
  • Promote veterinary products and services among farmers.
  • Support implementation of biosecurity, feeding, and livestock management programs.

Requirements

  • HND or B.Sc Degree in Animal Health, Animal Science, Animal Production, or related field.
  • Certification as a Paravet or Animal Health Technician is an added advantage.
  • 1–3 years of experience in livestock or poultry field operations.
  • Experience working with pastoralists, herders, or rural farming communities is an added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of livestock diseases, treatment, and preventive healthcare.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with rural farmers and local communities.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively and work in rural locations.
