We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Pastoralist Veterinary Consultant

Location: Awe, Oyo
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Veterinary Doctor to support pastoralist and livestock operations across assigned communities.
  • The ideal candidate will provide professional veterinary services, promote animal welfare, and improve livestock productivity through effective disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases affecting poultry and livestock within assigned clusters.
  • Conduct routine farm health visits and implement vaccination and biosecurity programs.
  • Train and supervise Paravets and farmers on animal health, handling, and record-keeping.
  • Support field investigations of disease outbreaks and implement corrective actions.
  • Advise management on herd/flock health status and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Ensure proper drug administration, dosage compliance, and adherence to withdrawal periods.
  • Collaborate with R&D and production teams to improve animal health performance indicators.
  • Maintain accurate veterinary records and prepare periodic reports.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from a recognised institution.
  • Registration with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN).
  • Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience in poultry or livestock practice.
  • Experience working with pastoralists, herders, or rural livestock communities is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of animal vaccination, nutrition, and disease control.
  • Good communication, analytical, and v training skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to rural and remote locations.
