Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Product Manager to own the end-to-end product lifecycle for our Banking as a Service (BaaS) platform.
  • You will shape features across digital wallets, card issuance, account management, and partner integrations — translating business goals and user needs into a clear, prioritised roadmap delivered through disciplined Agile execution.
  • This role sits at the intersection of financial technology, customer experience, and engineering.
  • You will work closely with engineering squads, compliance, design, and business stakeholders to ship world-class fintech products that delight customers and meet regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap:

  • Define and own the product roadmap for BaaS capabilities including virtual / physical card issuance, wallet creation and management, KYC / KYB onboarding flows, and payment rails.
  • Translate business strategy and market insights into prioritised product initiatives with clear OKRs and success metrics.
  • Conduct competitive analysis across African and global fintech landscapes to identify differentiation opportunities.

Agile Delivery & Sprint Planning:

  • Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and sprint reviews in partnership with engineering leads.
  • Write detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and epics in Jira; maintain a well-groomed, clearly ranked backlog.
  • Facilitate daily standups, retrospectives, and demos — championing an Agile mindset across squads.
  • Track sprint velocity, identify blockers early, and adjust plans to protect delivery commitments.

Wallet & Digital Payments:

  • Own the product experience for multi-currency digital wallets — funding, withdrawals, peer-to-peer transfers, and balance management.
  • Define features for wallet limits, cooling-off periods, dispute resolution, and fraud controls.
  • Partner with compliance and risk teams to ensure wallets meet CBN and relevant regulatory requirements.

Card Management:

  • Drive the roadmap for virtual and physical card products — issuance, PIN management, spending controls, freeze / unfreeze, and real-time notifications.
  • Work with card scheme partners (Visa, Mastercard, Verve) and processor integrations to deliver reliable card experiences.
  • Define card programme rules: velocity limits, merchant category controls, FX rates, and chargeback workflows.

Stakeholder Management & Cross-functional Leadership:

  • Act as the voice of the customer and the product in all discussions — from engineering sync to C-suite review.
  • Collaborate with partner banks, BaaS clients, and third-party API partners to onboard and configure new product programmes.
  • Prepare and present product briefs, launch plans, and performance reports to senior leadership.

Requirements
Experience:

  • 5 – 8 years of product management experience, with at least 3 years in fintech, payments, or Banking as a Service.
  • Proven track record delivering consumer or B2B fintech products — wallets, card programmes, lending, or payment infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience managing Agile / Scrum teams using Jira: backlog grooming, sprint planning, velocity tracking, and release management.
  • Experience working with or building API-first / embedded finance platforms is a strong advantage.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of payment ecosystems: card schemes, card processing, ISO 8583 or ISO 20022, settlement, and reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with KYC / AML workflows, PCIDSS requirements, and open banking / regulatory frameworks (CBN, PCI, GDPR).
  • Comfortable reading API documentation, reviewing technical architecture proposals, and contributing to API design discussions.
  • Experience with data tools (SQL basics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar) to drive product decisions with data.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication — able to simplify complex fintech concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical mindset: comfortable with funnel analysis, cohort metrics, and defining north-star KPIs.
  • High ownership mentality with a bias for action and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
