Description
- A Phone Service Engineer (sometimes called a mobile phone repair technician or telecom service engineer, depending on the company) typically installs, diagnoses, repairs, and maintains phones or phone-related systems.
- The exact role can vary depending on whether it’s focused on consumer mobile devices or telecommunications infrastructure.
Core responsibilities
- Diagnose hardware and software issues in mobile phones or communication devices
- Repair faulty components (screens, batteries, charging ports, speakers, motherboards, etc.)
- Install and configure phone systems, devices, or communication equipment
- Perform routine maintenance and testing
- Troubleshoot network/connectivity issues
- Update firmware and software
- Keep service records and repair logs
- Order or manage spare parts inventory
- Provide customer support and explain repairs to clients
- Ensure repairs meet safety and quality standards
Skills required:
- Knowledge of smartphone hardware and operating systems (e.g., Apple Inc. iOS, Samsung Electronics Android devices)
- Soldering and component replacement skills
- Troubleshooting and diagnostic ability
- Familiarity with repair tools/software
- Customer service skills
- Attention to detail
- Time management.
Salary
N100,000 - N150,000 per month.
