We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Legal Counsel

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The successful candidate will provide litigation-focused legal support across the company’s operations, manage disputes and regulatory matters, ensure compliance with applicable laws, mitigate legal risks, and advise internal stakeholders on legal exposures within a fast-paced fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters involving the company.
  • Liaise with and supervise external counsel on ongoing court cases and legal proceedings.
  • Draft, review, and respond to court processes, pleadings, affidavits, demand notices, and regulatory correspondence.
  • Provide legal advice to various business units on dispute-related risks and regulatory matters.
  • Develop litigation strategies and provide risk assessments on claims and potential disputes.
  • Support regulatory engagements, investigations, and enforcement actions where required.
  • Conduct legal research and provide guidance on relevant case law and regulatory developments.
  • Assist in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry guidelines.
  • Maintain proper documentation and tracking of all litigation and dispute matters.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B).
  • Must have completed Nigerian Law School and be called to the Nigerian Bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-call experience, with strong litigation background.
  • Experience in commercial litigation, regulatory enforcement, or financial services disputes is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of civil procedure, dispute resolution mechanisms, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent drafting, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
