Job Title: Substation Operator (Solar Plant)

Job Purpose

  • To ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the solar plant substation by monitoring electrical systems, maintaining equipment, and supporting uninterrupted power generation and distribution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and operate substation equipment including transformers, switchgear, and control systems.
  • Ensure smooth transmission of generated power from the solar plant to the grid.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of substation equipment.
  • Detect faults and take immediate corrective actions to prevent system failures.
  • Record operational parameters, logs, and incidents accurately.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams during repairs and shutdowns.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical faults and system disturbances.
  • Maintain clear communication with grid operators and plant management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of OND / HND in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 2–5 years’ experience in substation operations, preferably in power or renewable energy sector.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage systems and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in solar or renewable energy plants.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and monitoring tools.
