Job Summary 

  • As a Chemistry Teacher, you will educate students on chemical elements, compounds, reactions, and laboratory techniques, blending theoretical knowledge with practical, safe experiments.
  • Key responsibilities include creating lesson plans, conducting labs, assessing student progress, maintaining safety standards, and fostering scientific curiosity.
  • They often work in high schools and contribute to curriculum development.

Core Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Develop and deliver engaging lessons on topics like atomic structure and chemical reactions, adapting teaching methods to diverse learner needs.
  • Lab Safety & Supervision: Instruct students on safe laboratory practices, supervise experiments, and manage chemical inventory and equipment.
  • Assessment & Evaluation: Set and grade exams, assignments, and lab reports, providing constructive feedback to improve performance.
  • Curriculum Development: Plan, implement, and assess curriculum, aligning it with school standards (e.g., IGCSE, AP).
  • Student Support: Offer mentorship, guide science projects, and assist struggling students, often acting as a form tutor or pastoral guide.
  • Communication: Maintain open communication with parents and staff regarding student progress.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Science Education is generally required, with some schools requiring a Master’s degree or teaching certification.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of chemical concepts and safety regulations.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills to explain complex concepts clearly.
