Job Title: Biology Teacher

Location:  Abuja (FCT) 
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary 

• As a Biology Teacher you will educate students on living organisms, ecosystems, and, in many cases, complex topics like genetics and human anatomy.
• They are responsible for preparing lesson plans, conducting laboratory experiments, assessing student performance, and fostering a safe, engaging, and curious learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Instruction & Curriculum: Prepare and deliver lessons on topics such as cellular biology, genetics, ecology, and anatomy. Adapt teaching methods for diverse student backgrounds and learning abilities.
• Laboratory Management: Set up, supervise, and clean up laboratory experiments (e.g., dissections) ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed.
• Assessment & Evaluation: Create tests, assignments, and practical exams; track student performance and provide feedback to improve results.
• Classroom Management: Establish positive classroom behavior expectations and maintain a structured, inclusive learning environment.
• Communication & Support: Discuss student progress with parents and colleagues, and support students with special needs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Biology or Life Science is required, often with an added emphasis or minor in Education.
• Licensure: Public school positions require state-specific teaching certification.
• Knowledge: Deep understanding of biology.
• Communication: Strong presentation skills to explain complex, often abstract, concepts to students.
• Organization: Ability to manage inventory of lab supplies and plan lesson sequences.

Common Duties:

• Organizing educational field trips to museums or natural sites.
• Mentoring students for science fairs or olympiads.
• Utilizing technology, digital microscopes, and data analysis software.
• Staying current with advancements in biology to update the curriculum.

Physical and Safety Requirements:

• Teachers must be able to supervise practical work, which may involve handling hazardous materials.
