Job Title: English Language Teacher

Location: Life Camp, Abuja

Job Summary

  • As an English Teacher you will instructstudents in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, focusing on grammar, literature, and composition to improve communication skills.
  • Key duties include developing lesson plans, grading assignments, tracking student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment. They also collaborate with staff and communicate with parents.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Instruction: Teach grammar, vocabulary, literature, and composition to students, ranging from elementary to high school levels.
  • Lesson Planning: Create and execute comprehensive lesson plans tailored to various learning styles and age groups.
  • Assessment: Evaluate student performance through tests, assignments, and essays, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain an engaging, orderly, and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Student Support: Identify learning gaps and provide additional support or individualized plans to help students meet learning goals.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with other educators to improve curriculum, attend meetings, and keep parents informed about student progress.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field, often with a state teaching license.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for Literature: Ability to inspire students to appreciate literature and develop critical thinking.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse student needs and technological advancements in education.

Common Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an English teacher or in a relevant educational role.
  • Proficiency in, or deep knowledge of, the English language.
  • Patience and strong interpersonal skills.
