Job Title: Community Pharmacy Sales Assistant
Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To Pharmacy Manager / Branch Lead
Job Summary
- They are looking to hire a Community Pharmacy Sales Assistant — someone who is commercially sharp, scientifically grounded, and deeply motivated to grow a business that serves a community.
- This is a sales-first role set inside a pharmacy environment. You will sell as much as you serve, and you will do both with equal confidence and commitment.
The Role
- Sales is your primary engine. The pharmacy is your platform.
- You are not here to stand behind a counter and wait for customers to ask for things.
- You are here to drive revenue — across the counter, through B2B institutional accounts, and through every community relationship this pharmacy has.
- Your pharmaceutical knowledge is your competitive advantage in every sales conversation.
- You will use it to build trust, make recommendations, and close deals that a purely commercial salesperson never could.
Key Responsibilities
Sales — Retail & B2B (Primary Function):
- Drive daily over-the-counter (OTC) retail sales through product knowledge, proactive customer engagement, upselling, and persuasive recommendation.
- Prospect, approach, pitch, and close B2B deals with institutional buyers — clinics, hospitals, schools, churches, corporate organisations, and community groups within and around Ikeja.
- Build and manage a live B2B client pipeline — tracking leads, following up systematically, nurturing relationships, and consistently converting opportunities.
- Meet and exceed monthly retail and B2B sales targets — treat every target as a floor, not a ceiling
- Identify untapped sales opportunities within the community and existing customer accounts and pursue them with urgency
- Earn commission on every confirmed sale — your income grows with your performance
Community Engagement & Customer Service:
- Serve as the face of the pharmacy to the local community — warm, knowledgeable, and consistently professional in every interaction
- Build genuine, lasting relationships with walk-in customers, repeat clients, and community stakeholders — the kind of relationships that generate referrals and loyalty
- Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and escalations calmly and professionally, ensuring every issue is resolved and every customer leaves satisfied
- Counsel customers on medication use, dosage, storage, and side effects in a clear and accessible manner that builds trust and confidence in the pharmacy
- Upsell health supplements, vitamins, wellness products, and complementary items ethically and knowledgeably.
Pharmacy Operations & Dispensary Support:
- Accurately dispense prescription and OTC medications in compliance with standard pharmaceutical protocols and under pharmacist supervision
- Verify prescriptions, check drug interactions, and ensure correct labelling and patient counselling at every point of dispensing
- Manage stock levels — receiving, sorting, rotating, and monitoring pharmaceutical products for quality and expiry compliance
- Maintain accurate dispensary and sales records including inventory documentation and daily transaction logs
- Keep the pharmacy environment clean, organised, properly stocked, and fully compliant with healthcare regulatory and hygiene standards.
Time Management & Operational Discipline:
- Manage your time with precision across sales activities, customer service, and dispensary duties — without letting one compromise the other
- Open and close the pharmacy on schedule; manage daily workflows, priority tasks, and handovers with efficiency and ownership
- Submit daily sales reports, stock observations, and pipeline updates to the Pharmacy Manager promptly and accurately
- Proactively flag stock shortages, expiry risks, and operational gaps before they become problems.
Requirements
- B.Sc.Degree HND, or OND in Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a directly related life science discipline
- 2 – 3 years of hands-on, verifiable experience working in a licensed pharmacy, community pharmacy, or pharmaceutical retail environment
- Candidates without a science background in pharmacy, pharmacology, or microbiology will not be considered
- Registration with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) or similar regulatory body is an added advantage
- Pharmacy Experience — Non-Negotiable
- Demonstrated practical knowledge of medications — drug classes, mechanisms, contraindications, interactions, and dosage protocols
- Basic working knowledge of community pharmacy operations — stock management, dispensing workflow, cash handling, and documentation standards
Other Requirements:
- This is a sales-first role in a pharmacy setting. Candidates who can dispense but cannot sell will not be considered.
- You must be able to demonstrate real, active, target-driven sales experience — not passive counter service, not occasional recommendations, but purposeful selling with a track record to prove it.
- Applications without a clear and verifiable sales track record will not be shortlisted.
- Minimum of 1 year of active, demonstrable sales experience — retail, B2B, or both; purposeful and target-driven
- Clear, working understanding of the full sales cycle — prospecting, lead qualification, needs assessment, product pitch, objection handling, negotiation, and deal closure
- Proven ability to identify and convert B2B opportunities — clinics, hospitals, schools, corporate organisations, and community-level institutional buyers
- Track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets — this candidate treats a target as a floor, not a ceiling
- Ability to build and manage a client pipeline — following up systematically, nurturing relationships, and closing without being pushy
- Confident presenting and pitching products to both individual walk-in customers and professional institutional buyers.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong pharmaceutical and product knowledge — you know what you’re selling, why it works, and how to explain it persuasively to anyone
- High-level sales ability — commercially sharp, persuasive, and confident without compromising professional or pharmaceutical ethics
- Community relationship management — you understand community pharmacy dynamics and know how to build the kind of trust that drives repeat business and referrals
- Outstanding customer service — warm, patient, solution-focused, and always professional with every individual who walks through the door
- B2B communication and account management — able to engage and retain institutional buyers professionally
- Time management — you structure your day, balance competing priorities, and deliver without being chased
- Attention to detail — meticulous with prescriptions, dosages, stock, and sales records
- Numerical accuracy and integrity — trusted with cash, stock, and sensitive health data
- Proximity — must reside in Ikeja or its immediate environs.
Who You Are:
- You are a salesperson who happens to know pharmacy
- You see every customer as a sales opportunity
- You care about the community you serve
- You are honest, accurate, and take no shortcuts
- You manage your time like a professional
- You show up every day ready to serve and to sell
- You understand that a pharmacy is first a business
- You are dependable, commercially driven, and excellent.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive monthly salary commensurate with experience and qualifications
- Sales commission — earn above your base salary based on your retail and B2B sales performance; your effort directly determines your earnings
- HMO health insurance coverage — your health matters as much as the health of the customers you serve
- A stable, professionally structured environment in a growing community pharmacy
- Ongoing product knowledge training and professional development opportunities
- The satisfaction of building real relationships and making a tangible difference in your community, every single day.
Application Closing Date
5th June, 2026.
