Job Title: Development Associate, Individual Donations & Sponsorship

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced Development Associate to support the institution’s fundraising and development activities with a particular focus on individual giving, donor stewardship, and local partnerships.
  • Based in Lagos, the role will work closely with the Development team to strengthen donor engagement, support campaigns, and contribute to the growth of sustainable funding streams in Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities
Individual Giving & Donor Support:

  • Support the planning and delivery of individual giving initiatives, including donor outreach, follow-ups, and acknowledgement processes.
  • Assist with donor research, profiling, and pipeline tracking to support cultivation and stewardship efforts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records across relevant systems and support the preparation of donor reports and updates.

Development Operations:

  • Provide administrative, coordination, and logistical support to the Development team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Support grant management processes, including documentation, timelines, reporting requirements, and internal tracking.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of fundraising events and donor cultivation activities as required.

Communications & Coordination:

  • Work closely with the Communications team to support the preparation of donor-facing materials, updates, and presentations.
  • Liaise with internal teams to gather information, data, and updates required for development and fundraising activities.

General Support & Continuity:

  • Provide flexible support on additional development-related tasks as required to ensure continuity, responsiveness, and timely delivery of priorities.
  • Contribute to improving internal processes and documentation where needed.

Deliverables / Output

  • Effective support for the delivery of individual giving initiatives and fundraising campaigns.
  • Accurate, complete, and up-to-date donor records, tracking tools, and related documentation.
  • Timely and reliable administrative and coordination support to enable smooth delivery of Development team activities.

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Communications, or related discipline).
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in fundraising, development, administration, communications, or a related support role.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • High level of attention to detail, particularly in record-keeping and documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and engage professionally with external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Google Workspace; experience with donor databases or CRM systems is an advantage.
  • Interest in arts, culture, heritage, or nonprofit development work.
