We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Plant Mechanic

Location: Apapa, Lagos
Employment Type: Contract

Responsibilties
Maintenance & Repairs:

• Carry out preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on plant machinery and equipment (e.g. forklifts, cranes, generators, compressors, pumps, conveyor systems).
• Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective repair solutions.
• Dismantle, repair, replace, and reassemble mechanical components such as engines, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and transmissions.
• Conduct routine lubrication, adjustments, and alignment of mechanical systems.

Inspection & Troubleshooting:

• Perform regular inspections to identify wear, defects, or potential failures.
• Use diagnostic tools and technical manuals to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
• Ensure machinery operates within manufacturer and safety specifications.

Safety & Compliance:

• Comply with company HSE policies, procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
• Ensure all maintenance activities meet statutory, regulatory, and safety standards.
• Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses promptly.
• Maintain good housekeeping within the workshop and work areas.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, job cards, and service reports.
• Record spare parts usage and recommend replacements when required.
• Support audits and inspections by providing maintenance documentation.

Team Support:

• Work closely with operators, electricians, and supervisors to resolve equipment issues.
• Support commissioning and installation of new machinery.
• Provide basic guidance to junior technicians or apprentices when required.

Qualifications & Experience

• OND, Trade Test Certificate, or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Maintenance, or a related discipline.
• 3 – 5 years hands-on experience as a Plant Mechanic in an industrial, maritime, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
• Experience working with heavy-duty plant equipment and mechanical systems.
