Job Summary
- We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health Economist to support research, financing analysis, and policy-driven health interventions.
- The successful candidate will play a key role in generating evidence-based insights that strengthen healthcare programmes, improve resource allocation, and inform strategic decision-making across the health sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct health economics research and policy analysis.
- Lead cost-effectiveness, cost-benefit, and budget impact assessments.
- Support healthcare financing strategy development and resource optimization.
- Develop analytical models to inform programme and policy decisions.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations, and policy briefs.
- Provide advisory support on health technology assessment and costing studies.
- Analyse data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Support proposal development, grant writing, and donor-funded initiatives where required.
Requirements
- PhD in Health Economics, Economics, or a related field preferred.
- Master’s degree with strong relevant research experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience applying health economics in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly Nigeria.
- Proven expertise in cost-effectiveness, cost-benefit, and budget impact analysis.
- Experience in health technology assessment and costing studies.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian health financing systems, including NHIA, state insurance schemes, and donor funding mechanisms.
- Proficiency in Stata, Python, or TreeAge is an advantage.
- Excellent report writing, data visualization, and presentation skills.
- Published research or peer-reviewed journal experience preferred.
- Prior experience working with international development organizations, research institutions, or donor-funded foundations is an added advantage.
