We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Assistant Slaughterhouse Manager

Location: Omoku, Rivers

Summary

• The Slaughterhouse Assistant Manager in our poultry farm is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the slaughter and processing unit to ensure hygienic, efficient, safe, and quality production of poultry products in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Brief Job Description

• Supervise all slaughterhouse activities including bird receiving, slaughtering, dressing, processing, packaging, and cold room operations.
• Ensure strict compliance with hygiene, food safety, and biosecurity standards.
• Monitor staff productivity, discipline, attendance, and adherence to operational procedures.
• Ensure proper handling and maintenance of slaughterhouse equipment and facilities.
• Monitor product quality and minimize wastage during processing.
• Coordinate daily production targets and ensure timely delivery of processed birds.
• Maintain accurate operational records, stock usage, and reports.
• Enforce health and safety regulations within the slaughterhouse environment.
• Train and guide slaughterhouse staff on standard operating procedures and best practices.
• Liaise with management on operational challenges, manpower needs, and performance improvement initiatives.

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology, or any other related course from a recognized institution of higher learning.
• Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in a poultry farm slaughterhouse as a Manager or Senior Supervisor.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Good knowledge of poultry processing and food safety standards.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• High level of discipline, accountability, and attention to detail.
