We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accountant

Location: Ajah, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose & Summary

  • The Accountant is responsible for managing the organisation's financial records, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity across all financial operations.
  • This role supports informed business decision-making through timely reporting, sound financial analysis, and strict adherence to regulatory requirements.

Bookkeeping & Record-Keeping:

  • Systematically document all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and expenses
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with applicable accounting standards
  • Ensure all entries are properly coded, categorised, and supported by relevant documentation

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
  • Present financial reports to management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies as required
  • Ensure all reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable standards

Tax Compliance & Planning

  • Calculate, file, and manage tax returns including VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), and Income Tax
  • Ensure strict adherence to all applicable tax laws and regulatory deadlines
  • Identify tax planning opportunities to optimise the organisation's tax position within legal boundaries
  • Liaise with relevant tax authorities and respond to queries or assessments as necessary

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Develop and coordinate the annual organisational budget in collaboration with department heads
  • Monitor actual expenditure against budget and flag variances for management attention
  • Update financial forecasts periodically to reflect current business performance and projections

Auditing & Reconciliation

  • Examine financial records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Facilitate and support both internal and external audit processes
  • Maintain an audit trail for all financial transactions and ensure documentation is readily accessible

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Manage the invoicing process, ensuring timely and accurate billing to clients and customers
  • Process vendor and supplier payments in line with agreed terms and approval workflows
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts to ensure prompt collection
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable ledgers regularly

Financial Analysis & Advisory

  • Analyse financial data to provide actionable insights on cost reduction and revenue enhancement opportunities
  • Assess financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies to management
  • Advise on the financial implications of business decisions, contracts, and investments
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports as requested by management

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: HND or BSc in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Certifications: ICAN, ACCA, or any relevant professional certification will be an advantage
  • Technical Knowledge: Good understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards

  • Interpersonal Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and liaise confidently with internal departments, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Technical Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar), Microsoft Excel, and the wider Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary
N200,000 / Month.
