We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Oil & Gas Process / Operations Manager

Location: Abuja (FCT) 

Function

  • The Oil & Gas Process/Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing safe, efficient, and cost-effective production and processing operations across upstream, midstream, or downstream assets.
  • The role ensures optimal plant performance, regulatory compliance, and operational integrity in line with industry standards, HSE requirements, and company objectives.

Role Responsibilities
Operations Management:

  • Oversee daily operations of processing plants, production facilities, and associated equipment to meet production targets and quality specifications.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as throughput, uptime, energy consumption, and yield, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures in compliance with safety protocols.
  • Ensure effective management of utilities, process control systems, and maintenance schedules.

Process Optimization & Technical Support:

  • Analyze process data to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements in energy use, chemical consumption, and throughput.
  • Lead process hazard analysis (PHA), HAZOP, and MOC processes for plant modifications.
  • Provide technical support to operations, maintenance, and engineering teams on troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies and process improvements to enhance reliability and cost efficiency.

HSE & Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all operations comply with DPR/NUPRC, NMDPRA, FEPA, and other applicable Nigerian and international regulations.
  • Implement and enforce HSE policies, Permit-to-Work systems, and incident reporting protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, drills, and risk assessments across operational sites.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and participate in inspections and audits.

Project & Contract Management:

  • Support FEED, EPC, and commissioning activities for new projects and facility upgrades.
  • Review technical scopes, vendor proposals, and contractor performance for process-related works.
  • Manage OPEX/CAPEX budgets for operations and process improvement projects.
  • Coordinate with procurement, finance, and legal teams on contracts for chemicals, catalysts, and service providers.

Team Leadership & Reporting:

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop process engineers, shift supervisors, and operations technicians.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, shift logs, and monthly performance reports.
  • Present operational performance, risks, and improvement plans to senior management.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safety-first behavior.

Experience / Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 8–12 years’ experience in oil and gas operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
  • Hands-on experience with process plants such as gas processing, crude treatment, refining, or petrochemical units.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian regulatory requirements and international standards: API, ASME, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
  • Certification in Process Safety Management, HAZOP/LOPA, or similar is preferred.

Competencies / Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of oil and gas processes, P&IDs, PFDs, and control systems.
  • Proven experience in process optimization, troubleshooting, and risk management.
  • Solid understanding of HSE management systems and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proficiency in process simulation tools such as Aspen HYS, UniSim, or similar.
  • Strong analytical, budgeting, and project management capabilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
