Job Title: Mechanical Technician (Cashew Factory)
Location: Owo, Ondo

Job Summary
- The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all cashew processing machinery.
- This includes shelling machines, graders, dryers, conveyors, and other factory equipment. The role ensures minimum machine downtime and optimal production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on all cashew processing equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on shelling machines, graders, dryers, and conveyor systems
- Carry out installation, alignment, and commissioning of new or relocated machinery
- Inspect machines regularly for wear, damage, or potential failure points
- Replace worn or damaged parts including bearings, belts, gears, seals, and chains
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, spare parts inventory, and repair records
- Respond promptly to machine breakdowns to minimize production downtime
- Lubricate and service equipment according to scheduled maintenance plans
- Fabricate or modify simple machine parts when required (cutting, welding, drilling)
- Enforce safety standards during maintenance activities (lock-out/tag-out procedures)
- Supervise and guide Mechanical Operators or helpers during major repairs
- Report recurring machine issues to the Production Manager for long-term solutions.
Requirements
- OND in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field
- OR Trade Test Grade I + 3 years relevant experience
- 2 to 5 years experience as a Mechanical Technician in a manufacturing or agro-processing factory
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems: gears, bearings, belts, pulleys, chains, motors, and pneumatics
- Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and equipment manuals
- Proficiency with maintenance tools (wrenches, grinders, welding machines, drilling machines)
- Basic welding and fabrication skills (arc welding preferred)
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities
- Ability to work under pressure during breakdowns
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and respond to emergency call-outs.
