Job Title: General Manager (Breeder Farm)

Location: Farm Residence, Oyo (Candidate must be willing to reside on the farm premises)
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Managing Director / Executive Management

Job Summary

• The General Manager – Breeder Farm Operations will oversee the entire breeder farm operations, ensuring optimal productivity, biosecurity, bird health, hatchability performance, staff management, and operational efficiency.
• The ideal candidate must be a qualified Veterinary Doctor with extensive practical experience in breeder farm management and strong leadership capabilities within the poultry / agro-allied industry. 
• The successful candidate will be responsible for driving operational excellence, maintaining high production standards, and ensuring profitability while adhering to best poultry management practices.

Key Responsibilities
Farm Operations Management:

• Oversee daily breeder farm operations including rearing, production, feeding, vaccination, and flock management.
• Ensure proper breeder performance in terms of fertility, hatchability, egg production, and bird health.
• Develop and implement operational plans to achieve production targets and efficiency.
• Monitor flock uniformity, feed conversion, mortality rates, and overall farm performance.
• Ensure proper environmental management including ventilation, lighting, temperature, and litter management.

Veterinary & Biosecurity Management:

• Develop and enforce strict biosecurity measures across the farm.
• Supervise vaccination schedules, disease prevention programs, and treatment protocols.
• Conduct routine health assessments and ensure prompt response to disease outbreaks.
• Liaise with laboratories, veterinarians, and regulatory agencies when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with animal health and welfare standards.

Staff Supervision & Leadership:

• Lead, supervise, and coordinate farm managers, supervisors, and farm workers.
• Train staff on best practices in breeder management, hygiene, safety, and operational procedures.
• Monitor staff productivity and enforce discipline and company policies.
• Foster a high-performance and teamwork-oriented culture.

Production & Performance Monitoring:

• Analyze production data and prepare periodic operational reports.
• Monitor breeder KPIs including:
  • Egg production
  • Fertility rates
  • Hatchability
  • Mortality
  • Feed consumption
  • Uniformity
• Implement corrective actions where performance falls below target.

Maintenance & Resource Management:

• Ensure farm equipment, machinery, and facilities are properly maintained.
• Monitor inventory levels for feed, drugs, vaccines, and farm consumables.
• Control operational costs while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
• Coordinate with procurement and maintenance teams for uninterrupted farm operations.

Compliance & Administration:

• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
• Prepare operational budgets and manage farm resources effectively.
• Maintain accurate farm records and documentation.
• Provide regular reports and recommendations to management.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) is mandatory.
• 8–10 years of practical experience in poultry breeder farm management.
• Strong knowledge of breeder production systems, flock management, and hatchery operations.
• Proven experience managing large-scale poultry farm operations.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent understanding of biosecurity and disease control measures.
• Ability to work under pressure and make sound operational decisions.
• Proficiency in farm reporting and data analysis.
• Must be willing and ready to reside on the farm.
