Job Title: HSE Officer (Solar Projects)

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a qualified and proactive HSE Officer with proven experience in solar projects to join our team.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards across all solar installation and construction activities while promoting a strong safety culture on project sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and safe systems of work on solar project sites.
  • Conduct routine site inspections, risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and toolbox talks.
  • Monitor compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW) procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure all solar installation activities are carried out in compliance with regulatory and company HSE standards.
  • Conduct HSE induction and training for staff, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reports and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness drills and ensure emergency response readiness on site.
  • Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure adherence to project safety requirements.
  • Promote environmental sustainability and safe work practices across all operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years HSE experience in solar projects (mandatory).
  • Proven experience in solar PV installation, EPC, renewable energy, or utility-scale solar projects.
  • NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, ISPON HSE Level 3, or equivalent HSE certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, risk assessment, incident investigation, and emergency response.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a project team environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of electrical safety and solar installation processes.
  • Strong leadership and contractor management skills.
  • Good understanding of renewable energy project operations.
