We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Counselor Educator (Daily Worker Pool)

Location: Katsina
Employment Type: Part-time

Responsibilities

  • Identify the psychosocial, socio-economic and administrative needs for patients
  • Actively promote the availability of counselling services and carry out, individual or in group counseling, basic psycho educational sessions, to patients, their families (when needed), in order to alleviate their psychosocial difficulties within the project scope.
  • Refer patients to other specialists or other institutions for further assistance, when necessary in o rder to propose the best support available.
  • Participate in the creation of any material needed for counseling activities and look after it,
  • Keep files and statistics of daily activities and participate in team meetings to share experiences and discuss special cases with other counselors, preserving confidentiality
  • Inform line manager of any problem of any kind arising during the day-to-day activities.
  • Take active part in trainings, supervisions/intervisions and support the activities manager when neces-sary in doing sensitization for MSF staff or external partners about mental health/ p ychosocial issues.
  • Discuss difficulties and problems in counselling with supervisor.
  • Perform a psychosocial assessment and identify the needs of the new admissions and in Salama C linic.
  • Perform counselling and psychostimulation activities in MSF supported ICU, step down, and other units when needed.
  • Participate in the support of SGBV cases in collaboration with other medical departments, following MSF protocols and the pathway defined by the project.
  • Provide support for families facing end-of-life decisions for their children when needed.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all patient information both in salama clinic and other departments
  • Participate in the different data collection activities, ensuring that information is updated and providing feedback on weekly basis.
  • Ensure to work within the framework of MSF protocols. .
  • Always Respect hygiene practice .
  • Debrief with the MHAM/ MH referrent regularly.
