We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Laboratory Analyst

Location: Idanre, Ondo

Job Summary

  • The Laboratory Analyst is responsible for carrying out routine laboratory testing and quality control checks on raw materials, in-process products, finished goods, packaging materials, and water samples to ensure compliance with food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality specifications within an FMCG manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine laboratory analysis on raw materials, in-process products, finished goods, packaging materials, and water samples.
  • Perform tests including moisture content, pH, viscosity, Brix, microbiological analysis, fat/oil content, sensory evaluation, and weight checks.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all laboratory results and quality records.
  • Escalate any out-of-specification results, deviations, or food safety concerns to the QA Manager.
  • Support in-process quality monitoring on production and packaging lines.
  • Ensure proper calibration, cleaning, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Handle chemicals and reagents in line with safety procedures.
  • Monitor GMP, hygiene, and food safety compliance within production and laboratory areas.
  • Conduct environmental and water quality testing as required.
  • Manage sample retention and traceability procedures.
  • Support internal audits, CAPA implementation, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure compliance with FSSC 22000, HACCP, GMP, and other regulatory standards.
  • Assist in the investigation of customer complaints and product quality issues.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory and request consumables and reagents as needed.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. / HND in Food Science & Technology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or related discipline.
  • 2–4 years’ experience in FMCG manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory testing procedures and quality control systems.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
  • Good documentation and reporting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
