Job Summary
- We are seeking a highly disciplined, detail-oriented, and ethically grounded Accountant to oversee the company’s financial operations, reporting, compliance, and financial controls.
- The ideal candidate will play a key role in safeguarding the company’s financial integrity by ensuring accurate reporting, tax compliance, expense monitoring, inventory reconciliation, and audit readiness.
- This role requires a professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with high levels of integrity, analytical thinking, and operational accountability.
- The Accountant will work closely with Management, Operations, HR, Inventory, and Administrative teams to ensure that all financial activities are properly documented, verified, and aligned with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
Job Scope:
- The Accountant will be responsible for the strategic management of the company’s financial records, reporting systems, tax obligations, budgeting oversight, and financial verification processes.
- This role focuses on maintaining accurate and transparent financial operations while supporting profitability, accountability, and operational efficiency across the organization.
- The successful candidate will oversee financial reporting cycles, monitor expenditure trends, ensure compliance with Nigerian tax regulations and IFRS standards, supervise reconciliation activities, and maintain clean, audit-ready financial records at all times.
- The role also requires strict oversight of payment verification processes, payroll support, inventory reconciliation, and internal financial control systems to minimize financial risks and ensure operational discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Record Management:
- Prepare and submit monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow reports
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ledgers
- Ensure all accounting entries are properly documented and reconciled
- Monitor financial transactions and ensure compliance with accounting standards
Tax Compliance & Regulatory Reporting:
- Ensure timely filing and remittance of VAT, PAYE, WHT, and Company Income Tax (CIT)
- Maintain compliance with Nigerian tax regulations and statutory obligations
- Liaise with tax authorities and regulatory agencies where necessary
- Ensure the organization remains free from penalties, fines, and compliance issues
Budgetary Control & Financial Monitoring:
- Monitor departmental spending against approved budgets
- Identify and report significant budget variances to Management
- Support Management with financial forecasting and budgeting processes
- Analyze expenditure patterns and recommend cost-control measures
Payment Verification & Financial Control:
- Verify incoming payments and bank transfers before product or service release
- Maintain strict financial control procedures and approval processes
- Serve as the final authority for payment confirmation before operational release activities
- Ensure accurate tracking of receivables and financial inflows
Inventory Reconciliation & Audit Support:
- Collaborate with the Inventory Officer to conduct monthly stock audits
- Reconcile physical inventory counts with accounting records
- Investigate discrepancies and provide reconciliation reports
- Maintain clean and audit-ready financial documentation
Payroll & Compensation Support:
- Support HR with salary computation, commissions, and statutory deductions
- Verify payroll records and ensure accuracy before processing
- Ensure timely and accurate remittance of pension and statutory deductions
Internal Controls & Financial Integrity:
- Maintain strong internal financial control mechanisms
- Ensure transparency and accountability in financial operations
- Identify financial risks and recommend corrective measures
- Support external audits and ensure smooth audit processes
Qualification/ Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Accounting or related discipline
- ICAN or ACCA qualification is mandatory
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in corporate accounting or financial management
- Strong experience with financial reporting, taxation, reconciliation, and audit preparation
- Ability to prepare accurate financial statements, interpret financial data, and provide insights for business decision-making.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian tax laws, statutory remittances, IFRS standards, and compliance requirements.
- High level of precision in financial computations, reconciliations, record keeping, and transaction verification.
- Proficiency in accounting and financial management tools such as QuickBooks, Zoho Books, Sage, or similar ERP/accounting systems.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, uphold ethical financial practices, and enforce strong internal control systems.
- Experience in a tech, retail, distribution, or operational environment is an added advantage
Salary
N300,000 - N400,000 monthly.
