Gbenga Badejo and Co - Our client is an integrated agribusiness focused on palm oil cultivation and refining, with additional operations in maize and soybean farming, as well as animal husbandry. 

They are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Farm Manager / Agronomist

Location: Ilupeju, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Review land preparation, planting schedules, and input application records to ensure full compliance with agronomic best practices and crop plans before planting cycles begin.
  • Monitor daily farm operations (irrigation, fertilization, pest control) and flag unusual crop stress patterns or resource deviations; escalate and document outbreak reports or yield risk assessments where required.
  • Act as the point of contact for regulatory bodies, including the Ministry of Agriculture and NAFDAC (where applicable), ensuring timely and accurate filings (production reports, pesticide usage logs, environmental compliance queries).
  • Maintain and update farm operating procedures to reflect current agricultural research, climate adjustments, and internal process improvements.
  • Conduct periodic compliance audits across all farm units (planting, spraying, harvesting, storage) to identify gaps in crop management and enforce corrective actions.
  • Lead internal investigations into agronomic breaches (e.g., fertilizer misapplication, irrigation failure, harvest loss incidents), documenting findings and recommending disciplinary or process control measures.
  • Design and deliver targeted training sessions for farm hands and unit supervisors, especially those handling planting, chemical application, and post-harvest handling.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Engineering, or related fields
  • 5+ years of hands-on farm management experience, including supervisory role.
  • With knowledge in Oil palm plantation management and vegetables.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of irrigation systems, integrated pest management (IPM), and soil fertility protocols.
  • Familiarity with agricultural regulatory filings and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in basic farm data collection and reporting tools.
  • Strong investigative and corrective action planning skills.
