Job Summary

  • The STEM / Technology Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on lessons in schools while supporting the implementation of the organization’s technology curriculum.
  • The instructor will teach students across Primary and Secondary levels using a project-based learning approach in areas such as coding, robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital technology.
  • In addition to teaching, the instructor will support student development beyond the classroom by preparing learners for competitions, exhibitions, and innovation showcases, helping them build real-world projects and confidence.
  • The role also involves representing the organization at external events, competitions, and exhibitions, showcasing student projects, program impact, and the organization’s offerings.
  • The ideal candidate should have teaching experience, strong classroom management skills, and a solid foundation in technology or STEM-related fields.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Classroom Delivery:

  • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons based on the provided curriculum.
  • Teach students using hands-on, project-based learning methods.
  • Simplify technical concepts into clear, age-appropriate explanations.
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Ensure all students participate actively during lessons.

Lesson Preparation & Planning:

  • Prepare for each class using the provided lesson plans and teaching guides.
  • Set up required materials, devices, and tools before lessons begin.
  • Adapt lesson delivery to suit different student learning levels where necessary.
  • Ensure lessons are completed within the allocated time.

Student Assessment & Support:

  • Assess student performance through class activities, projects, and quizzes.
  • Provide feedback to students to support improvement.
  • Identify struggling learners and offer additional guidance.
  • Support students in completing projects and assignments.

Competitions, Projects & Innovation Development:

  • Prepare students for internal school competitions and external STEM competitions.
  • Guide students in designing and building innovative, real-world technology projects.
  • Mentor students in problem-solving, creativity, and project presentation skills.
  • Support students in preparing for project exhibitions, demo days, and showcases.
  • Encourage participation in innovation challenges, hackathons, and STEM events.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit weekly and termly reports on student progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and class activities.
  • Provide feedback on curriculum effectiveness and student engagement.
  • Document classroom challenges and suggest improvements.

Technical & Classroom Setup:

  • Set up and manage devices, robotics kits, and software tools required for lessons.
  • Troubleshoot basic technical issues during class.
  • Ensure proper handling and maintenance of equipment.
  • Support students during practical sessions involving technology tools.

Representation & External Engagement:

  • Represent the organization at school exhibitions, competitions, fairs, and public showcases.
  • Support the presentation and demonstration of student projects and program outcomes.
  • Assist in showcasing the organization’s products, services, and achievements at events.
  • Engage with stakeholders, schools, and visitors during exhibitions and outreach events.

Professional Conduct & School Engagement:

  • Arrive on time and maintain professionalism at all times.
  • Represent the organization positively within partner schools.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff and coordinators.
  • Adhere to school policies and organizational standards.

Areas of Instruction
Instructors may be required to teach:

  • Coding and Programming (Scratch, App Inventor, Python, etc.)
  • Robotics and Physical Computing
  • Artificial Intelligence (basic to intermediate levels)
  • Digital Literacy and ICT Skills

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Computer Science, Engineering, ICT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Prior teaching or classroom management experience.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of technology, coding, or STEM tools.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage and engage students effectively.
  • Willingness to travel to assigned school locations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience teaching coding, robotics, or STEM-related subjects.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Scratch, Arduino, Micro:bit, App Inventor, or Python.
  • Ability to guide students in building projects and preparing for competitions.
  • Strong problem-solving and adaptability skills.
  • Passion for working with children and young learners.
