Job Title: Senior Product Manager (Banking)

Location: Benue

Job Description

  • The role is responsible for building and leading the Bank’s product management function, driving the design, development, deployment, integration, and optimization of innovative digital banking and financial products within a fintech-driven digital microfinance bank.
  • The successful candidate will define the Bank’s product vision, digital product roadmap, customer journey architecture, card product strategy, and core banking product framework from inception while ensuring the delivery of scalable, customer-centric, and commercially viable financial solutions.
  • The role requires a highly strategic, analytical, and execution-driven professional with strong experience in digital banking products, core banking systems, card business operations, fintech product management, payment solutions, lending products, savings products, and financial product innovation.
  • The ideal candidate must possess deep understanding of card issuing and transaction flows, digital banking ecosystems, API-driven financial products, and core banking infrastructure, while being capable of independently establishing product structures, governance frameworks, and execution models without requiring constant supervision.

Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap Development:

  • Develop and implement the Bank’s overall product strategy and product management framework from the ground up.
  • Define the Bank’s digital banking product vision, customer journey architecture, and long-term product roadmap.
  • Lead the design and rollout of customer-focused financial products across savings, current accounts, fixed deposits, loans, cards, wallets, transfers, and digital payment solutions.
  • Identify market opportunities, customer pain points, and product innovation opportunities within the digital banking ecosystem.
  • Align product initiatives with the Bank’s growth, profitability, customer acquisition, and retention objectives.
  • Drive end-to-end product lifecycle management from ideation to deployment and optimization.

Core Banking Product Management:

  • Lead product configuration and optimization initiatives within the Bank’s Core Banking Application (CBA).
  • Collaborate with Technology and Operations teams on core banking workflows, product setup, process automation, and transaction architecture.
  • Ensure proper integration between the core banking platform and all digital banking channels.
  • Drive the development of scalable and efficient product processes within the Bank’s digital infrastructure.
  • Support product parameterization, process configuration, and operational alignment within the core banking environment.
  • Work closely with vendors and implementation partners on core banking product enhancements and integrations.

Cards & Payment Product Management:

  • Lead the development and management of the Bank’s card products including debit cards, prepaid cards, and virtual cards.
  • Oversee card lifecycle management including issuance, activation, transaction monitoring, dispute handling, and customer experience optimization.
  • Collaborate with card processors, payment switches, and settlement partners to ensure seamless card operations.
  • Develop strategies to drive card usage, transaction volumes, customer adoption, and revenue generation.
  • Ensure strong understanding and management of transaction switching, settlement flows, chargebacks, and card scheme operations.
  • Monitor card product profitability, fraud trends, and operational performance.

Digital Banking Product Development:

  • Lead the development and enhancement of digital banking products and services.
  • Collaborate with Technology teams to translate business requirements into scalable digital solutions.
  • Define product requirements documents (PRDs), workflows, user journeys, APIs, and feature specifications.
  • Ensure seamless integration across mobile apps, web platforms, payment gateways, card systems, and third-party services.
  • Drive automation, digitization, and operational efficiency across all product offerings.

Lending & Liability Product Development:

  • Design and optimize loan products, savings products, fixed deposit products, and liability-generation solutions.
  • Develop competitive product structures that support customer acquisition and deposit mobilization.
  • Monitor product profitability, pricing strategies, and portfolio performance.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Treasury, and Finance teams to ensure sustainable product growth and risk management.

Customer Experience & Product Optimization:

  • Drive customer-centric product design and user experience optimization.
  • Conduct customer research, market analysis, and competitor benchmarking.
  • Monitor customer behavior, transaction trends, and product performance metrics.
  • Identify product gaps and implement enhancements to improve customer engagement, retention, and transaction activity.
  • Ensure seamless and intuitive customer experiences across all digital touchpoints.

Product Performance & Analytics:

  • Define and monitor key product KPIs including adoption, transaction volumes, revenue contribution, active users, card utilization, and profitability.
  • Develop product dashboards, management reports, and product performance analytics.
  • Analyze customer data and transaction patterns to drive strategic product decisions.
  • Monitor product economics and optimize revenue opportunities.

Regulatory & Compliance Alignment:

  • Ensure all products comply with CBN regulations, NDIC requirements, card scheme standards, and internal governance policies.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Technology teams during product development and deployment.
  • Ensure proper documentation, approvals, testing, and governance processes for all product launches.
  • Monitor regulatory developments affecting digital banking, payment systems, and card operations.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Leadership:

  • Collaborate with Growth, Technology, Operations, Treasury, Risk, Compliance, and Customer Experience teams to drive product success.
  • Serve as the key product advisor to Executive Management on digital banking and product strategy.
  • Build and structure the Product Management function from inception.
  • Develop product governance frameworks, policies, SOPs, and reporting structures.
  • Support recruitment, mentoring, and development of future product team members.

Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
  • Professional certifications in Product Management, Agile, Scrum, Digital Banking, Payments, or related fields will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • 7–12 years experience in Product Management, Digital Banking, Fintech, or Financial Services.
  • Strong experience managing digital banking products, core banking systems, and card products.
  • Proven experience in card issuing, payment systems, switching, settlement processes, and digital financial solutions.
  • Strong understanding of core banking applications, digital banking operations, and API integrations.
  • Experience managing lending products, savings products, cards, payment products, or digital financial solutions.
  • Experience working with card processors, payment switches, and fintech infrastructure providers is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of CBN regulations, card scheme standards, and digital financial services frameworks.
  • Experience working in startup or high-growth fintech environments is highly desirable.

Remuneration

  • Salary: N700,000 - N1,000,000 / Month.
