We are recruiting suitable candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Instructor of Law

Location: Adamawa

Summary

  • The Instructor of Law is responsible for delivering high-quality legal education and fostering student learning and development both within and beyond the classroom environment.
  • The incumbent will collaborate closely with the Chair of the respective department in the design, development, and implementation of academic programmes, course content, and instructional strategies that promote excellence in teaching, learning, and student engagement in line with the vision and mission of the American University of Nigeria.

Detailed Listing of Responsibilities

  • Teaching: The primary responsibility of a faculty member is for teaching and for supporting student learning both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Class Attendance: Faculty members should make clear that students are expected to attend class and complete required assignments.
  • Academic Advising: Available to assist students throughout the semester.
  • Department/Schools Meetings: Attending meetings on a regular basis and as necessary to facilitate communication and to accomplish the work required for the smooth operation of the department and school.
  • Attendance at Academic Functions: Full-time faculty members are expected to attend meetings of the faculty and any all-college meetings called by AUN administration.
  • Research: Faculty members are to engage in research activities that will promote self-development and the University
  • Community Service: Faculty are to contribute to AUN community service and development activities

Requirements

  • A good LL.B Degree from a reputable University.
  • At least fifteen (15) years post-call experience, particularly in active court practice and procedural law.
  • Practical exposure to litigation, legal drafting, and client advisory services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in paralegal studies, legal practice, and procedural law.
  • Proficient in the use of ICT tools and e-resources for teaching and research
  • Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals

Other requirements, abilities for the position:

  • Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association
  • Experience in Africa or other parts of the developing world is a plus.
  • A strong commitment to development

  • A demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, cultural diversity, and equal opportunity.
