Job Title: Officer, Risk and Compliance

Job Function
- Analyse potential risks that could impact the organization's operations, finances, or reputation, support the implementation of strategies to minimize or manage identified risks.
Key Performance Areas
- Monitor and evaluate insurance broker performance against agreed SLAs, compliance standards, and service quality benchmarks; identify gaps and escalate non-compliance issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure accountability of third-party partners, strengthens governance, and supports cost-effective insurance risk transfer strategies.
- Conduct risk assessments across fleet, and warehouse operations to identify operational, financial, and compliance risks; recommend mitigation actions and track implementation
- Enhances proactive risk management and reduces exposure to operational disruptions, losses, and regulatory breaches.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Fleet, Warehouse, Workshop, HSE) to collect, validate, and analyze risk and compliance data
- Promote data accuracy, strengthen internal controls, and ensure alignment with enterprise risk management frameworks.
- Support end-to-end insurance claims administration, ensuring proper documentation, compliance with policy requirements, and adherence to timelines
- Minimize claim rejection risks, improve recovery outcomes, and ensure regulatory and contractual compliance with insurers.
- Review, maintain, and update insurance policies, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards
- Strengthens policy governance, ensures adequate coverage, and reduces exposure to uninsured risks.
- Track and monitor compliance with internal risk management policies, insurance protocols, and external regulatory requirements
- Support audit readiness, drive adherence to controls, and help mitigate legal and financial risks.
- Maintain and update risk registers, ensuring all identified risks are documented, assessed, and regularly reviewed; support the preparation of risk and compliance reports for management and audit purposes
- Enable effective risk tracking, transparency, and informed decision-making at management level.
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing required documentation, evidence, and insights related to risk management and insurance activities
- Ensure smooth audit processes and strengthens compliance posture.
- Identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, and potential compliance risks within existing operations; recommend improvements aligned with best practices in risk management and insurance governance
- Drive continuous improvement and strengthen the organization’s control environment.
- Stay up to date on insurance products, regulatory changes, and risk management best practices; share insights with the team to enhance capability and awareness
- Supports continuous learning, compliance with evolving regulations, and improved risk maturity across the function.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Finance, Risk Management, Accountancy or equivalent obtained from a recognized tertiary institution.
Experience and Skills Required:
- A minimum of two (2) years' work experience in a reputable organization.
- Exposure to basic risk or insurance operations through internships, NYSC, or entry-level roles in logistics, transportation, or related sectors.
- Experience supporting documentation, data collection, or compliance tasks within a structured team environment.
- Strong analytical skills to assess complex risks.
- Problem-solving skills to develop effective risk mitigation plans.
- Communication skills to explain risks and strategies to stakeholders.
- Quantitative and statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance.
- Ability to stay updated on industry trends and regulations.
