St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is a 64-bed hospital located in Ogungbade off New Ife road in Ibadan. St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is the vision of the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena (Italy). We offer various medical services such as: General medicine, internal medicine, O & G, Laboratory, and Radiology, to mention just a few. The hospital is run in collaboration with foreign partners. We are registered and licensed by the Corporate Affairs Commission and the Ministry of Health. Also, we are accredited by the NHIS as both primary and secondary health care provider.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

Location: Ibadan, Oyo

Job Summary 

  • St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is seeking a competent, detail-oriented, and dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician to support the laboratory team in carrying out diagnostic tests and ensuring accurate laboratory results for effective patient care.
  • The successful candidate will assist in specimen collection, laboratory testing, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety and quality standards within the laboratory unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, label, and process patient specimens appropriately.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests under supervision and according to standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in hematology, microbiology, parasitology, chemistry, and serology investigations.
  • Prepare reagents, stains, and laboratory materials for testing procedures.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the laboratory environment.
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of laboratory waste according to safety guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment appropriately.
  • Record and document laboratory results accurately.
  • Adhere strictly to infection prevention, biosafety, and quality control standards.
  • Assist in inventory management and monitoring of laboratory supplies.
  • Collaborate effectively with laboratory scientists and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements
Education & Professional:

  • Diploma / Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field
  • Valid professional certification/licensing where applicable

Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience is an added advantage
  • Experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory setting is preferred

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when necessary
  • Strong commitment to accuracy, patient safety, and professionalism
  • Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures effectively.

  • Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing

  • Competitive salary package: N60,000 - N90,000 per month .
