St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is the vision of the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena (Italy). We offer various medical services such as: General medicine, internal medicine, O & G, Laboratory, and Radiology, to mention just a few. The hospital is run in collaboration with foreign partners. Job Summary
- St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is seeking a competent, patient-focused, and detail-oriented Pharmacist to join its healthcare team.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for dispensing medications accurately, ensuring proper medication management, and providing professional pharmaceutical care to patients in line with established standards and ethical practices.
- The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong clinical knowledge, professionalism, and excellent communication skills while contributing to safe and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense prescribed medications accurately and efficiently.
- Review prescriptions to ensure correctness, dosage accuracy, and appropriateness of therapy.
- Counsel patients on medication usage, dosage, side effects, and storage instructions.
- Monitor drug interactions and contraindications to ensure patient safety.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation.
- Manage inventory, monitor stock levels, and ensure proper storage of medications.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, ethical standards, and hospital policies.
- Supervise pharmacy assistants and support staff where necessary.
- Participate in ward rounds and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy unit.
- Monitor expiry dates and ensure proper disposal of expired medications.
- Support pharmacovigilance and medication safety initiatives within the hospital.
Education & Professional Requirements
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm)
- Valid license from the Pharmacists Council
- Current practicing license
Experience:
- 2 - 5 years post-qualification experience is preferred
- Experience in a hospital or community pharmacy setting is an added advantage
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays where necessary
- Strong commitment to patient safety and confidentiality
- Ability to maintain professionalism and compassion while attending to patients.
