Position Overview
- The Account Officer will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, monitoring transactions, supporting budgeting processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and assisting in maintaining sound financial practices within the organization.
- The ideal candidate must possess strong analytical skills, financial accuracy, integrity, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Accounting:
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.
- Prepare and maintain accounting books, ledgers, and financial statements.
- Process invoices, payments, receipts, and expense records accurately.
- Monitor cash flow, petty cash, and bank reconciliations.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes efficiently.
- Ensure timely reconciliation of company accounts and financial discrepancies.
Budgeting & Financial Reporting:
- Assist in budget preparation, cost analysis, and financial forecasting.
- Generate financial reports and provide insights to support management decisions.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
- Prepare periodic management reports on company financial performance.
Taxation & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with statutory financial obligations, including tax remittances and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with audit preparation and liaise with external auditors where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, accounting principles, and internal control systems.
Administrative & Operational Support:
- Maintain proper filing and secure storage of financial documents.
- Support procurement and payment processing activities where necessary.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper financial accountability.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting certification (ACA, ACCA, ICAN, ANAN) or progress toward certification is an added advantage.
- 2–5 years proven accounting experience, preferably in the real estate, construction, or corporate sector.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and bookkeeping.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
