Job Description

  • We’re seeking an experienced and strategic Finance Manager to lead and oversee the organization’s financial planning, accounting, reporting, budgeting, treasury, compliance, and cost management functions.
  • The ideal candidate will ensure financial stability, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and support business growth through accurate financial management and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, and performance analysis.
  • Manage all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory accounting, and cost accounting activities.
  • Develop and implement effective cost control measures across departments and operational activities to improve profitability and efficiency.
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity positions to ensure adequate funding for operational and strategic requirements.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis and business insights to support management decision-making, investment evaluations, and strategic initiatives.
  • Establish, maintain, and strengthen internal financial controls, policies, procedures, and governance frameworks to safeguard company assets and minimize financial risks.
  • Coordinate and manage annual audits, statutory audits, tax audits, and regulatory inspections while ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and statutory requirements including FIRS, state tax authorities, pension, NSITF, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee treasury management activities including banking relationships, cash management, foreign exchange transactions, and funding requirements.
  • Review and approve financial transactions, payment schedules, reconciliations, and expenditure requests in accordance with company policies.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, supervision, and performance management for finance and accounting team members.
  • Collaborate with production, procurement, warehouse, sales, HR, and other departments to improve financial efficiency and operational performance.
  • Develop financial models, investment appraisals, and business cases to support expansion projects, capital expenditure decisions, and new business initiatives.
  • Monitor key financial performance indicators and recommend actions to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of financial records, accounting documentation, and supporting schedules for management and regulatory purposes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within finance processes through automation, system enhancements, and best practices.
  • Adhere strictly to company policies while promoting financial accountability, transparency, and ethical business practices across the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum of B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, budgeting, treasury management, taxation, and cost accounting principles.
  • Proven experience in managing audits, statutory compliance, and financial controls.
  • Demonstrated experience in business performance analysis, profitability management, and strategic financial planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial reporting tools, and ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, production costing, and manufacturing finance operations.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and senior management.
  • Strong financial management and strategic planning skills.
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling expertise.

Preferred Certifications/Qualifications:

  • ICAN, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional certification.
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Financial Modeling & Valuation Certification (FMVA).
  • Advanced Excel and ERP System Certification.
  • Taxation and Financial Management Certifications.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies in finance and accounting.
