Role Purpose
- The Business Operations owns the franchise's commercial, technical, and regulatory performance.
- The successful candidate shall translate Management's strategic mandate into core operations, driving the reduction of Aggregate Technical Commercial &Collection (ATC&C) losses whilst providing leadership and driving strategic performance for the business.
Key Responsibilties
Strategic Leadership:
- Own and drive the franchise's ATC&C loss reduction roadmap, setting monthly milestones, tracking progress, with Management Information System.
- Develop and regularly update operational plan ranging from metering, revenue assurance, network management, and customer engagement
- Set individual and team KPIs; hold weekly performance review meetings with key stakeholders
- Develop business strategies, manage budget allocation, and support investment decisions.
Commercial & Revenue Oversight:
- Oversee and validate revenues cycle ranging from energy received, billed, and money collected.
- Drive collection efficiency improvement strategies and review collection performance on weekly basis.
- Champion the energy transition programmes ranging from prepaid to smart metering; monitor metering rollout against monthly targets
- Ensure commercial losses (theft, bypass, unmetered consumption) are reduced to bear minimum through loss reduction strategies.
Technical & Network Oversight:
- Ensure the feeder operates at maximum availability whilst owning network resilience.
- Approve planned maintenance schedules and emergency response protocols.
Compliance & Stakeholder Relations:
- Ensure full compliance with NERC regulations, Disco’s franchise agreement, and health & safety standards at all times
- Serve as the primary contact for the Disco, NERC, and community/customer escalations; promptly resolve regulatory issues in line with SLA.
- Prepare and submit monthly performance reports to the Management, ensuring accuracy and candour
- Maintain a positive and collaborative relationship with community leaders to support revenue enforcement and infrastructure protection.
Team & Culture:
- Recruit, onboard, and develop a high-performance team; hold all staff to clear standards of conduct, output, and customer service
- Foster a zero-tolerance culture for revenue leakage, theft, and collusion by staff
- Ensure Internal Auditor operates with full independence and that all audit findings are resolved within agreed timelines.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Arts, or a related field (Master's degree is advantageous)
- Minimum of 12 years' experience in electricity distribution or utility management, with at least 3 years in a management role
- Strong understanding of NERC regulations, and Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry
- Proficiency in strategic planning, energy accounting, revenue assurance, and operational data analysis.
