We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Medical Director

Location: Idimu, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time (hybrid: 4 days on, three days off)
Reports to: General Manager, JP Hospitality

Role Summary

• The Medical Director is the hospital’s most senior clinical executive, responsible for clinical governance, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and the clinical contribution to sustainable financial performance.
• The role combines senior clinical leadership with executive accountability, ensuring consistently high standards of patient care while supporting service growth, operational effectiveness, and long-term financial sustainability.
• The Medical Director champions the hospital’s commitment to safe, ethical, and accessible healthcare for the Idimu community, particularly children, expectant mothers, and underserved patients.

Responsibilities
Clinical Governance & Quality:

• Provide clinical leadership across General medicine, Family Medicine, Women’s Health, and Paediatrics.
• Establish and enforce clinical standards, protocols, and ethical practice
• Lead clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and quality improvement initiatives
• Ensure patient safety, infection control, and clinical risk management

Medical Operations:

• Provide oversight of all medical services and clinical workforce performance
• Ensure effective duty rosters, productivity, and patient flow
• Act as final clinical authority for escalated cases and adverse events

Regulatory & External Relations:

• Serve as primary clinical liaison with:
• Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)
• Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA)
• National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA)
• Health Maintenance Organisations (HMOs) and insurers
• Lead licensing, inspections, and accreditation processes

Commercial & Strategic Contribution:

• Partner with management to grow patient volumes and service utilisation
• Provide clinical leadership for new service lines and pricing strategy
• Support HMO negotiations and commercial decision-making
• Work closely with the GM, JP Hospitality to support sustainable operational performance

People & Culture:

• Recruit, develop, and retain high-quality doctors and specialists
• Set performance expectations and address underperformance decisively
• Performance & Success Measures
• Clinical quality and patient safety outcomes
• Regulatory compliance and accreditation status
• Patient volume and service-line growth
• Doctor productivity and retention
• Contribution to profitability and long-term value creation

The Medical Director must be clinically competent and experienced in:

• Family Medicine
• Women’s Health and Natal Care
• Paediatrics

In addition, the MD must be able to competently handle standard and routine surgical procedures relating to:

• Obstetrics and natal care
• Women’s health
• Paediatric cases within the scope of a private hospital setting.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Fully licensed medical doctor
• Currently practising and seeking progression into a leadership role
• Strong experience in Family Medicine, Women’s Health/Natal care, and Paediatrics
• Comfortable balancing clinical work with leadership accountability
• Senior clinician with strong leadership credibility
• Commercially aware, with private hospital experience.

Salary
N750,000 - N1,000,000 monthly.
