Job Title: Procurement Officer

Location: Benin City, Edo

Job Summary

  • The procurement officer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing goods, materials, and services required by the organization.
  • The role ensures that procurement activities are conducted efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • The Procurement Officer will maintain supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, monitor inventory requirements, and ensure timely delivery of quality products and services.

Key Responsibilities
Procurement Planning and Sourcing:

  • Identify organizational procurement needs and specifications.
  • Source qualified suppliers and vendors for goods and services.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations, proposals, and bids.
  • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and procurement opportunities.
  • Prepare procurement plans and purchasing schedules.

Vendor Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, reliability, and delivery timelines.
  • Resolve supplier-related issues and disputes.
  • Maintain an approved vendor database.

Purchasing and Contract Administration:

  • Prepare purchase orders and procurement documentation.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts, and service agreements.
  • Ensure contracts comply with organizational policies and legal requirements.
  • Monitor contract performance and renewal schedules.

Inventory and Stock Control:

  • Collaborate with relevant departments to forecast procurement needs.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies when necessary.
  • Ensure optimal stock levels are maintained to avoid shortages or overstocking.
  • Coordinate with stores and warehouse teams for receiving and verification of goods.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
  • Promote ethical procurement practices and transparency.
  • Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks.

Cost Management:

  • Achieve cost savings through effective negotiation and supplier management.
  • Monitor procurement budgets and expenditures.
  • Analyze purchasing trends and recommend cost-reduction initiatives.

Reporting:

  • Prepare procurement reports and supplier performance reports.
  • Track procurement KPIs and provide management updates.
  • Maintain procurement records for audits and compliance reviews.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Logistics, or a related field. Considerations made for non-degree holders.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of procurement or supply chain experience.
  • Experience in vendor management and contract negotiation.
