Job Summary

  • We are seeking to engage competent, customer-focused, and result-oriented professionals for the position of Operations Officer – Teller.

Job Description

  • The ideal candidate must possess strong cash handling skills, excellent customer service orientation, sound knowledge of banking operations, and the ability to work effectively in a regulated financial institution.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing customers’ financial transactions efficiently and accurately while ensuring compliance with internal control procedures, operational policies, and regulatory guidelines. The role requires professionalism, integrity, accuracy, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process cash deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and other financial transactions.
  • Ensure accurate posting of customer transactions into the banking application/system.
  • Balance cash vault and teller position daily without shortages or overages.
  • Verify customer identity and ensure proper documentation before processing transactions.
  • Promote excellent customer experience through professional and courteous service delivery.
  • Handle customer enquiries and resolve basic complaints promptly.
  • Maintain proper records of transactions and operational activities.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the Bank’s operational policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and escalate suspicious transactions in line with AML/CFT regulations.
  • Support account opening processes and customer onboarding activities when required.
  • Cross-sell the Bank’s products and services to existing and prospective customers.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of customer information and Bank assets.
  • Assist in branch operational activities as may be assigned by the Branch Operations Officer or Branch Manager.

Requirements

  • OND/HND/B.Sc. in Banking & Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related disciplines.
  • 1–3 years relevant experience in banking operations or teller functions, preferably in a Microfinance Bank.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good knowledge of banking operations and customer service practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and banking software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
  • Must be resident in Benue State or willing to relocate.

Salary
