We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: HSE Officer

Location: Assa North, Imo

Description

  • The HSE Officer is responsible for monitoring health and safety, assessing risk, and offering advice and designing strategies to reduce risk to people and negative impact to the environment, within an assigned work area, base or site.

Responsibilties

  • Conduct regular site inspections
  • Plan safe working practices and make necessary changes
  • Promote safe practices at all times
  • Ensure that aspects and impacts are well handled and environment is protected.
  • Correct unsafe acts or conditions through the regular line of authority.
  • Exercise emergency authority when necessary to prevent or stop unsafe acts when immediate action is required.
  • Participate in planning meetings to identify any health and safety concerns inherent in the operations daily work-plan.
  • Train and carry out drills and exercises on how to manage emergency situations.
  • Coordinate waste management and safe handling of chemicals
  • Carry out PTW recording and review
  • Ensure prompt inspection of plant/equipment and maintain record of same
  • Write reports, bulletins and newsletters
  • Ensure and enforce compliance with the Company HSE and related policies
  • Undertake risk assessments
  • Identify potential hazards and determine ways of reducing risks
  • Conduct toolbox meetings, organise/attend health and safety meetings
  • Compile HSE statistics
  • Induct new employees.
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents for root cause identification and preventive action
  • Conduct first aid, and medical emergency service
  • Increase health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization
  • Engage in continuous education and staff development
  • Draw-up safe operational procedures
  • Responsible for contributing to the HSE department in a professional manner which seeks to ensure that it is effective and commands a high standard of respect both internally and externally.

Qualifications

  • Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree with 3 - 5 years experience.
