Position Summary

  • The Chemistry Educator plays a vital role in nurturing students’ understanding and appreciation of chemistry through engaging, inquiry-based, and hands-on learning experiences.
  • The educator will inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while promoting leadership, responsibility, and excellence in line with the Domfas Vision of developing globally competent and innovative learners.

Key Responsibilities
Instructional Excellence:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver dynamic and well-structured lessons in Chemistry aligned with the Domfas curriculum, national standards, and Cambridge framework.
  • Facilitate laboratory experiments and hands-on investigations that connect theory to real-life applications.
  • Incorporate STEM learning, project-based activities, and digital tools to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles.

Assessment & Evaluation:

  • Develop, administer, and evaluate assessments (tests, practicals, assignments, and projects) that measure both knowledge and application.
  • Maintain accurate academic and behavioral records of students.
  • Provide timely feedback to students and parents to support continuous academic improvement.

Student Mentorship & Engagement:

  • Motivate students to explore Chemistry beyond the classroom through science fairs, experiments, innovation challenges, and STEM clubs.
  • Model scientific integrity, ethical research behavior, and a spirit of discovery.
  • Guide students in developing analytical and leadership skills through inquiry and collaborative learning.

Professional & Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with science department colleagues to ensure curriculum coherence and quality delivery.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, staff development programs, and professional learning communities.
  • Support the academy’s vision through active participation in leadership, mentoring, and co-curricular initiatives.

Laboratory & Resource Management:

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped laboratory environment.
  • Ensure adherence to all chemical safety protocols and responsible waste management practices.
  • Promote student accountability and care for learning materials and resources.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Student academic performance and improvement in Chemistry.
  • Active participation and achievement in science/STEM projects.
  • Lesson quality, classroom engagement, and laboratory safety compliance.
  • Collaboration with peers and contribution to school goals.
  • Professional development engagement and innovation in teaching.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Science Education, or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in Chemistry at the middle or high school level.
  • Strong mastery of the Chemistry curriculum and laboratory procedures.
  • Experience with Cambridge/IGCSE curriculum or other international school standards is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in digital instructional tools and 21st-century teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
