The Michael Okpara Endowment on Agricultural Research and Industrial Development is an initiative established by the Michael Okpara Foundation and launched at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU). The fund aims to revive the economic legacies of Dr. Michael Okpara—the former Premier of the Eastern Region—by engaging experts in applied research.

- Dr. Michael Okpara Endowment for Agricultural and Industrial Research is pleased to announce a research grant opportunity for postgraduate students pursuing M.Sc. or PhD. Programmes at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike for 2026/2027 academic session.
- The Foundation is interested in postgraduate students who are willing to run postgraduate courses leading to award of Masters (M.Sc.) and Doctorate (PhD.) Degrees on some special crops including Rubber, Cocoa and oil palm.
- The foundation is also interested in researches in rabbitory and snailery. Indeed the Foundation seeks for highly intelligent, skilled and motivated candidates capable of engaging into in-depth edge-cutting research in the specialized areas of interest.
Eligibility
- Candidates of all nationalities within and outside Africa possessing qualifications equivalent to recognized degrees in relevant disciplines are eligible to apply.
- The M.Sc. programme will generally be open to all graduates of B.Agric, B.Sc Agric and B.Tech Agric. with a minimum CGPA of 3.5.
- Holders of PGD in any of the relevant disciplines with a minimum of Upper Credit (or CGPA of 3.5 on a 5 point scale) shall also be eligible to apply, on the condition that the candidates met basic university matriculation requirements of five (5) 0' level credits in their relevant disciplines.
- The PhD programme will be open to Master's Degree holders in courses that are relevant to the different options in Agric. Programme with a minimum CGPA of 4.0.
Terms of Grant
The grant shall cover tuition fees and other charges tenable in MOUAU postgraduate programme. Accommodation, stipends and research funds shall also be provided.
