Job Title: Communication and Learning Assistant
Location: Bauchi
Employment Type: Contract
Reports to: MEAL Officer
Project Duration: 42 months
Job Summary
- The Communications and Learning Assistant (CLA) supports implementation of communication and learning activities, ensuring effective information flow across stakeholders and enhancing project visibility across print and digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of project communication plan and ensure donor visibility compliance.
- Develop communication materials: flyers, posters, newsletters, press releases.
- Manage social media platforms (LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok).
- Produce multimedia content (photos, videos, infographics).
- Document success stories, case studies, and lessons learned.
- Maintain project documentation repository.
- Facilitate stakeholder feedback mechanisms.
- Coordinate media engagement and radio programs.
- Support MEAL officer with data visualization and reporting.
Deliverables:
- Monthly communication outputs
- Contribution to organization’s periodic newsletters
- Success stories and case studies
- Social media analytics reports
- Photo/video documentation
- Contribution to donor reports
Performance Indicators
- Timely production of materials, increased media engagement, quality documentation, and integration of learning into project implementation.
Qualifications & Experience
- ND in Communications, Journalism, Development Studies or related field with 2 years’ experience.
Core Competence:
- Skills in digital and social media, storytelling, photography and basic design/photo/video editing required.(Canva, Photoshop, CorelDraw, or similar tools).
- Strong writing skills with the ability to craft compelling stories from the field.
- Familiarity with social media management and digital communication strategies.
- Ability to work in rural communities with sensitivity to gender and cultural contexts.
- Good time management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive, resourceful, solutions oriented and results-oriented
- Excellent organization, planning and analytical skills; detail oriented
- Good understanding of MEAL principles,
Reporting & coordination:
- Reports to MEAL Officer and collaborate with State actors, CBOs, media partners, and donor teams. Liaise with the DEC Communications Officer.
