Job Title: Automation / Instrumentation Technician

About the Role
- To perform the maintenance and programming of central control systems and associated equipment, provide technical assistance to Electrical / Instrumentation Engineers and Technicians, and provide detail engineering and field supervision for the electrical/instrumentation portion of the capital projects.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Electrical and Instrumentation work is executed in compliance with Lafarge and the plant site safety procedures
- Optimize and maintain high level control (Lucie) and automation for the plant operation promoting process improvement
- Optimize and maintain Human Machine Interface (HMI) working closely with Production perfecting trends, reporting, control, alarms, and displays
- Optimize and maintain software and hardware of Programmable Logic Controllers
- Maintain plant control computers and supervisor controls
- Promote new upgrades and features to assist plant performance
- Work closely with the Electrical/Instrumentation Engineers in maintaining plant optimization
- Establish and maintain inventory levels of spare parts and management records for direct reports, vendors, and work orders
- Design, monitor and actively act upon preventive maintenance programs
- Ensure conformance with Automation, IT, and corporate guidelines
- Participate in carrying out root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) on Electrical/Instrumentation equipment failures
- Work in the field providing direction and technical expertise alongside plant Electrical/Instrumentation/Automation technicians and Maintenance Mechanics
- Champion on-the-job training and development of Automation Engineers
- Support realization of 2years strategic spare parts list for the plant
- Meet on-call responsibilities in a 24/7 operation
- Train reliable successors during the term of his contract.
- Support implementation of ISO 14001:2015 EMS and ISO 9001:2015 QMS
- Ensure involvement in the implementation and maintenance of an integrated management system in the plant
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in any engineering discipline (Electrical engineering or Electronic or Physics as main subjects) with 4 / 5 years postgraduate experience
Required skills:
- Good knowledge of cement manufacturing process
- Good knowledge of product quality parameters and quality control tests.
- Good knowledge of computer aided systems for kiln and mill operation
- Able to take initiative based on sound problem solving skills.
