Job Title: Reclaimer Operator

About the Role

• The Reclaimer Operator is responsible for operating reclaiming equipment to retrieve and feed pre-homogenized raw materials - including limestone, clay, laterite, and additives - from stockpiles onto conveyor systems for further processing in the cement manufacturing line.
• This role ensures a consistent and controlled material feed rate to the raw mill, maintains equipment integrity, and upholds the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operate reclaimer machines (bucket wheel, bridge, or side scraper reclaimers) to retrieve stockpiled raw materials in a controlled and efficient manner.
• Monitor and regulate the reclaiming rate to maintain a consistent feed to the raw mill or downstream processing equipment.
• Manage boom angle, travel speed, and bucket wheel rotation speed to optimize material recovery without causing equipment strain.
• Operate from control cabin or remote control panel, responding promptly to process signals and instrumentation readings.
• Ensure materials are reclaimed in the correct sequence (FIFO — First In, First Out) to support blending and pre-homogenization objectives.
• Coordinate with the raw mill and stacker teams to balance material flow and avoid stockpile depletion or excess.
• Monitor material quality indicators (moisture content, particle size) and escalate deviations to supervisors.
• Prevent cross-contamination between different raw material stockpiles.
• Conduct thorough pre-start and post-shift inspections of the reclaimer, including bucket chain / wheel, scrapers, boom, conveyor belts, and lubrication systems.
• Identify and promptly report mechanical issues, wear, or abnormalities to the Maintenance team for timely corrective action.
• Carry out basic preventive maintenance tasks — lubrication, belt tension checks, cleaning — within operator scope.
• Maintain accurate logbooks of equipment status, operational data, and downtime incidents.
• Strictly adhere to all plant safety protocols, Lock-Out / Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment around the reclaimer and conveyor areas.
• Use correct personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and enforce compliance within the immediate work area.
• Report near-misses, unsafe conditions, and incidents promptly using the plant's safety reporting system.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills.
• Coordinate closely with the Stacker Operator, Raw Mill Operator, Crusher Control Operator, and Mobile Plant Manager to ensure seamless material flow.
• Provide timely updates on operational status, feed rates, and stockpile levels to supervisors and the control room.
• Communicate any operational challenges, equipment faults, or material quality issues that could impact downstream processes.

Requirements
Education:

• OND / HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline (Trade test certification in equipment operation is an added advantage).

Experience:

• 4–5 years of post-qualification experience in a heavy industry environment, preferably cement, mining, or aggregate processing. Demonstrable experience operating stacker / reclaimer equipment or similar bulk material handling machinery.

Required Skills:

• Sound understanding of cement raw material handling processes and pre-homogenization principles.
• Knowledge of reclaimer types (bucket wheel, bridge scraper, side scraper) and their operational parameters.
• Familiarity with conveyor systems, chute arrangements, and bulk material flow dynamics.
• Knowledge of plant safety regulations, LOTO procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems associated with reclaimer equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret operational instrumentation and process control displays.
• Good communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
