Job Title: Quality Control Analyst

Location: Sagamu, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

About the role

  • The objective of the Quality Control Analyst is to work with other members of the quality team to maximize operational efficiency in an environment of continuous improvement; to provide timely and accurate process control information, to ensure that all testing equipment is operating properly, and to certify that the completed product meets intended specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the work area in the Laboratory is safe, by identifying, reporting and rectifying all safety deviations through use of near miss reporting, Audits and Planned Tasks Observations methods.
  • Ensures that end products comply with the plant specifications and statutory requirements during in process and before being dispatched.
  • Ensures that fuse beads and pellets for in process and finished product are properly prepared and used in XRF analyses.
  • Ensures prompt control of in-process and finished products.
  • Conducts chemical analyses, Ash Content, Calorific Value and Moisture of in-coming materials (gypsum, coal, AF etc) using the available testing instruments as applicable.
  • Interprets all the test results produced and take corrective action for deviations in conjunction through usage of Statistical Process Control Incident plotting and reporting.
  • Makes sure that the standards for the standardization are available.
  • Follows Lafarge Quality Technical Standard (LQTS) in all laboratory tests
  • Adheres to, sample preparation, analysis/testing, sample retention work instructions, at all times.
  • Informs/consults his superior of any technical difficulties and faults beyond scope immediately.
  • Ensures that the laboratory records are kept up-to-date and allow product traceability.
  • Ensures that the laboratory and other measuring equipment is maintained, serviced, calibrated and in good working condition.
  • Manages the Lab reagents, glassware, equipment/accessories and other equipment spares stocks.
  • Manages testing programmes daily.
  • Any other job that may be assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Laboratory Technology.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in a process industry.

Required skills:

  • Working knowledge of cement manufacturing process
  • Working knowledge of equipment operation procedure
  • Able to take initiative based on sound problem-solving skills.
