Job Title: Quality Assurance Engineer

About the Role
- Within the framework of the plant’s objectives and yearly action plans, define and implement the short, medium and long-term strategies to meet the plant products specifications (official standards, market objectives, operational targets).
- Quality Engineer’s responsibility is to ensure the reliability of laboratory test equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform all tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Communicate clearly on information relating to potentially dangerous situations and get confirmation that they are correctly understood.
- Check that chemical and physical testing is correctly handled. Ensure a good utilization and a safe storage of tests and products.
- Analyze risks related to sampling points and make sure they are correctly addressed.
- Respect standards and procedures for sampling, preparation and analysis.
- Check the reliability of the analytical results. Support lab operators in the interpretation in case of unexpected values.
- Ensure strict compliance to simulated raw materials and blending ratio
- Analyze trends and control charts of monitoring samples.
- Maintain the laboratory and other measuring equipment in good working condition.
- Ensure implementation of Lafarge Quality Technical Standards (LQTS) in all laboratories. All laboratories must be 100% LQTS compliant.
- Coordinate daily / weekly checks as per Lafarge Quality Technical Standards (LQTS) in the laboratories.
- Follow the evolution of official norms on measurements and implement new methods consequently.
- Liaise with the Technical Centre to keep inform with measurement techniques.
- Check that the end products comply with the company specifications and the current standards before dispatching them.
- Obtain feedback on product quality from the customers through the technical sales division and take appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage quality data documentation for quality development planning and traceability.
- Manage laboratory resources including staff (motivation, on the job training, and career development) and equipment to achieve optimum performance.
- Calculate and propose targets and/or limits to be applied to the various parameters in order to meet customer requirements and national standards.
- Construct and launch experimental plan, under supervision, to resolve a recurring problem (e.g. excessive deviation of quality parameters).
- Coordinate on a day-to-day basis the quality control program.
- Interpret results and notify the Quality Manager and Production Manager if the product does not comply with the specifications.
- Participate in quality audit and champion the performance of Laboratory round robin test as organized by the TC.
- Develop and implement relevant quality indicators and follow them up regularly.
- Report on quality of products upon Technical Centre request.
- Any other job that may be assigned.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Laboratory Technology.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience.
Required Skills:
- Good knowledge of cement manufacturing processes: Raw meal preparation, burning, combustion and grinding.
- Good knowledge of Cement standards.
- Commitment to the highest standards of safe work habits.
- Good knowledge of safety laws and regulations.
- Good written and verbal communications skills.
